This factsheet thoughtfully looks at interracial marriages between Indigenous women and Chinese men. The fact sheet brings focus to the acceptance of pleural marriages in both Indigenous and Chinese cultures and the effects of the 1878 Indian Act and the 1948 Family Unification Act on these families. The fact sheet uses the stories of the children and grandchildren of these unions to show the lasting effects of racism on these communities in British Columbia.
