Factsheet

Description

This factsheet summarizes Jeffrey Ostler’s piece on Indigenous consciousness of genocide and Indigenous knowledge of the intentions of colonizers to eliminate them. Rather than being entirely passive, Ostler provides evidence of US and Canadian Indigenous Peoples’ conscious evaluation of settler colonists, a process that began from the first instances of contact with settlers. Indigenous Peoples are active survivors of genocide.
