This factsheet is a distillation of Sheftel and Zembrzycki’s “'We Started Over Again, We Were Young': Postwar Social Worlds of Child Holocaust Survivors in Montreal." Integration into Quebec was difficult for child Holocaust survivors, leading them to often form new social worlds of their own. Survivors exercised their agency and shaped places for themselves in Montreal, declaring their independence and ensuring the continuity of Jewish people in Quebec.
