This factsheet provides a comprehensive history leading up to the Manitoba Act of 1870. The factsheet argues that returning to the original vision of a treaty Manitoba, as outlined in the 1870 Manitoba act, provides a template for land repatriation and for repairing the relationship between 'Canada' and nations of the Métis peoplehood on the basis of mutual respect and dialogue.
